NewsDate: Feb 18, 2010 Junior A Pens split with St. Louis Jr. Blues
The Pittsburgh Junior A Penguins travelled to St. Louis this past weekend to take on the Junior Blues riding a season high three game losing streak. Saturday night the streak was extended to four as the Penguins lost 4-1. " I thought we played fairly well, but again we did not get a break. Right now the difference between a team like St. Louis and us is that we need a break to get us going in the right direction. Teams like Dubuque and St. Louis make their own breaks and overcome bad ones, " said Coach Dorsey. The Pens were a determined team on Sunday afternoon and played one of their best games of the year in defeating the Junior Blues 3-2. " It was a great game and both teams battled to the end. This was a game that could have gone either way and we were fortunate to get the victory today. Drew Martz scored a huge goal, but he did all the little things that make him a great team player (block shots, battle and kill penalties). Charles Gallagher played a good game for us and scored a wrap around goal to tie the game and that was big. Evan Mulvihill played one of his best games in a Junior A Pens uniform and Collin LeMay was solid between the pipes. I thought everybody on the team played good and that is what we need all the time to compete against the top teams in this league, " added Coach Dorsey. The Junior A Penguins travel again next week to play the Flint Generals before returning home to host the Cleveland Lumberjacks.
