About our Tiered Program

Jr Penguins Tiered Approach

With the recent acquisition (Oct of 2010) of the Tier III Jr A CSHL League by the North American Hockey League (NAHL), the Jr Penguins are positioned to build a quality DEVELOPMENT & PLAYER PROCUREMENT program.  Plans for 2011 are to go back to icing Tier I Midgets at the U16 and U18 levels with the express intent of increasing player development and streamlining the procurement process to the next level.

With a pathway from Midget Minors and Majors and onto Juniors with our Jr A Penguin team in the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL), the Jr Penguins will become a model for player development and priocurement for the local student athlete to make his way to the NAHL.

With the NAHL's experienced and professional staff that makes player promotion a priority, the NA3HL provides an organized and competitive experience with an unrivaled scouting presence guaranteed to benefit all of the participating student-athletes and programs.

The Jr A Penguins membership in the NAHL Network will undoubtedly ensure that more players will be scouted especially at the NAHL sponsored showcase events which are expected to result in more tenders and draft opportuinities for our players.

The Jr Penguins goal will be to move the areas best players to the Tier II Jr A level where in 2009/10, the NAHL placed more than 130 players in NCAA DI and DIII programs with most playing DI (over 90).

Beginning with the 2011 season, the Jr Penguins plan to ice teams at the Tier I Midgel level teams at Tier I U16 and Tier I U18.  These teams will compete in high exposure showcase as a member of the NJPHL where they partner with the higher level Jr Programs to compete against teams across the nation via strategic event scheduling.  Their game schedules will be complimented with other high exposure Tier I Trurnament games plus home and road games against other Tier I competition.

Additionally, all our teams will share in the same game day attractions as the Jr A's did this season for their Tier I games including the posting of statistics on Point Streak, the nation’s leader in Sports Management solutions and real time statistics.  Further, the teams  will have some travel by team Charter Bus in order to improve team building and to bring the players closer together, all while introducing the players to the way they will eventually be traveling as they advance through Juniors and onto the collegiate level.

Further yet, home games for all our program teams played on the USA Arena will be video broadcast via Fast Hockey, the nation’s premier online destination for streaming video of amateur hockey around the world.  These features are all designed to benefit the player’s exposure.

While the Jr Penguins will continue provide area student athletes an opportunity to develop their skills through a tiered program that includes multiple teams, we'll do that with a new partner in the NAHL.  Each of our teams will be significant to the player interested in competing at a more challenging level but on a par with regard to size, strength and like skill.  This approach ensures that each player is competing at the highest level of capability while still being challenged to take his game to the next level.  With the Jr Penguins, each player maximizes his opportunity to accelerate his advancement.
